Starting Guild Wars Issue
When I start guild wars the screen will go black, the mouse will be a hourglass with nothing happening over a long period of time, and when I try to end the program with Windows it shows 2 Guild WArs applications running. Ending the program doesn't do anything, so I just have to turn off or restart the computer through the task manager. Anyone know how I could fix this thanks.

Little for us to go on possible that its your connection to the internet being blocked by firewall or maybe the computer just cannot run the game.
More information might help us.
drat just noticed you said 2 applications running let me think about that one

For me, it tends to show two applications (when there should only be one) running if the program is frozen/unresponsive. So far it's only happened to web-browsers, but maybe it's the same for you.
Not sure what you can do to fix that thought. As people have said, it could be that your computer can't run the program.

edit
Only thing I can think of is the gw icon is set to single click run and your double clicking
That would run it twice or try to.
sry cannot think of anything else it might be.

The double Guild Wars is nothing of a problem, i assume that 2 tabs open, then the first one disappears leaving the second to remain - I get that and it is simply a 'red rooster' to your problem.
I can simply assume 2 problems with the limited information you have provided.
Firstly, you have set the refresh rate in graphics too high and your monitor does not support it.
Secondly, there is a simple malfunction in the client, most probably fixable by re-installing.

If you want a more centered explaination please do the following:
Part A:
Quote:
1. Explore your computer until you find the Guild Wars program folder. It will be in "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars" by default.
2. Right click on the file GW.exe and select create shortcut.
3. Right click on the shortcut and choose rename and change the shortcut name to "Guild Wars Diagnostics".
4. Right click on the shortcut and choose 'Properties'.
The Target window should read:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
Modify this line to read:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -diag
5. Press OK and then double click on this shortcut to run the test (If you are using Windows Vista, please right click the shortcut and choose "Run as administrator" instead).
You will see a small window that gives the status of the testing. Please wait for all of the tests to finish. When it is done, click Close. The test will create a new file in your Guild Wars folder (again, by default this is "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars") called NetworkDiag.log.
Please attach this in a reply to the topic

Part B:
Quote:
Tell me if you have made any changes to your system registry/files. Or if you have downloaded new drivers or installed new hardware.
Please can you also tell me what were you (un)able to do on Guild Wars prior to these errors - Also if you downloaded any updates.
With this information i should be able to find an answer. If all else fails download the client again here (Download and unzip the file, create a Guild Wars folder where you like to have the game installed, "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars" by default, and move the GW.exe into this folder.)
